The idea for using auctiators is really good as they are precisely align and assembled ready to use modules that gives insane accuracy compared to regular home build stuff. But if you look the reality. Even second hand decent auctiator cost more per piece than the entire printer. So guess what you will find in it …
But if someone is fascinated by this design you can achieve really good printer by just get some THK KR30 linear modules from ebay and make it yourself. You will have better mechanical performance even from Ultimaker grade stuff at price range for entire build less than 1000$. But hey 199$ will be definitely crap. When I test my THK KR33 I manage to achieve speed of 250IPM with nema23 motor running with 40V/1.5A. I was using 6mm ballscrew and they have variants with 20mm.
Sorry to surface this old thread, but just to let you know that the Snapmaker 3-in-1 Kickstarter actually delivered (is delivering). I just got mine, but have yet to print with it. Just assembled it today, waiting to get access to their slicing software (or find an alternative slicer, see my other post just now).
