Before I received my first strip,

Yowza. That looks pretty far off from what I am going for. Oh well. I decided to just run everything on 5V strips with power re-injection if needed. I want to be able to run this off either AC grid power or car batteries, so I settled on having two power supply options A) a 500W AC/DC (100A @ 5v), and B) 2 x 300W DC/DC (28A @ 5V to 60A @ 5V at 90% efficiency).

hmmm this is troubling since I wanted locate my Mega about 6-8’ from the first pixel. I will be installing later this week hopefully it will work and be reliable.

So do this, put the controller wherever it needs to be, put the strips where they need to be. Then power the strips where they are and power the controller where it’s at. Don’t run a 6’-8’ power line from the controller all the way to the strips because the voltage drop across that will affect the strips. Your white will start to look reddish really fast that way. If you must use a single power supply, keep it near the strips, and run power back TO the controller, not the other way around.

But will I have issues with the control being so long to pixel 1?

Not if you keep the power source near the strips. The controller doesn’t need a whole lot of power or current, the strips do. So power the strips first and foremost, then run power (and signal) to the controller. It shouldn’t affect the controller too much to where it will brown out, and the signal should still be strong enough to detect 1s and 0s.
