E3D Kraken needs testers! I have a limited number of prototypes that I am

I was about to pull the trigger on your normal hot end @Sanjay_Mortimer . It’s be interested in helping design a working mount for an i3. I am putting together a bread board smoothie right now to run my i3, could easily add some more drivers to play with this bad boy. I also have a backup printrbot lc so I can keep printing even if the i3 is in merry experimentation land. I have a few things posted

Contribute to OctoPrint and the smoothie firmware (just started their embedded web controller).

Either way this looks awesome and you should have all your betas be able to post to your dev blog or somewhere to share their experiences. Very interested in the progress of this.

Ahh thats awesome, thats such a great idea, had a similar idea, but just for a 3 print head set up. gonna have to get to the workshop this weekend!

where will the reviews / test results be documented?

I’d be happy to put this through rigorous testing on a few different setups. Let me know if you want detailed feedback.

I would more than willing to assist, I have various machines, MendelMax, Prusa i3 etc.

Give us a shout

I have a Mendel 90, 3 extruder capable electronics, and a water cooling jig. I’d be more than willing!

very nice!

I would be interested in trying it out on my ordbot hadron that I have nearly finished building. Check out http://www.apapageek.com for details of the build.

+Anthony Morris @Whosa_whatsis , if im selected, i will take point with the x3, and if you want, work with you guys to do the testing.

I’ve actually convinced Bob @ Deltamaker to let me take a pre-production machine home specifically for testing purposes of the Kracken, @Nicolas_Arias , whosa said he’s really too busy for it at the moment. Cool thing about me testing is that I have SO much access to different color filament, and we’ve had some formulation changes lately so we need to test them out. I know PLA has been difficult with all metal extruders in the past, so I’m looking forward to conquer that and make sure the Kracken is the best it can be once it gets into others hands.

@ThantiK cool, let me know if you need any help making it work with the x3

@ThantiK I don’t know if the difference is polymer formula or additives, but the PLA we use seems to work much better with all-metal (I believe it’s a 4032D).

@ThantiK thanks for thinking of me. I already have the Kraken setup on an i3, should be printing with it soon

+Anthony Morris as a tech futurist at Autodesk I’d love to give it a try and test out multi-material capabilites.@gordobia

upon further thought about this i would love to video series of unboxing to any prints attempted using the E3D kraken.

Late to the party, but if you still need beta testers we are very interested at Quelab. We have four Prusa Mendels and one Prusa Air in the group and are building an i3 experimental that we’d like to use the Kraken on. We can mod mounts. Let me know if we can help out.

Did you already pick testers?

For the most part yes, sorry to disappoint those who didn’t make it in. Applications were really competitive and we only had a limited amount of Krakens to hand out.

However we are going to be launching our pre-order for the first batch soon. Because it’s a pre-order for a beta product we are going to be offering a really aggressive discount to get them into the hands of as many people as possible. For delivery a little after Christmas.

You can put me down for a pre order then. can’t wait to get my hands on one of them

ditto on the pre-order
