Update to my post above. Turns out that the entire problem was with my mSD card. I swapped it out for a different one and now everything works fine and I am able to use the external SD card on the GLCD also.
But dont forget to eject the SD-card during boot because it can cause trouble.
My Smoothieboard is also Missing some “Pins” for the GLCD Shield
Any one know why they did not just put them in? I got the Best 5x one.
So where do I find these “PINS” that I need to put in?
and do I put ALL the missing ones in or only some of them?
Thanks
You should have gotten the pins with your board, haven’t you ?
OO My Bad! Yes they are there…did not even see that. are there any other pins I need to put in other then the GLCD pins?
I already put in the Switching Regulator DC to DC 5V 1.0 amp are there any changes I need to do with that or does the board know that I put it in?
Thanks and Happy New Year!
After Hours and hours online….
Just a Tip for you all
If you bought this LCD (Makergeeks .com/xtsm12lcdra1.html) to use on a smoothiebored you need to cut the safety Key tabs off of the cables and flip them around it will work, they got them backwards. Red wire on the right side looking at it from the back side or Red wire to the sdcard Reader
I have the latest board from uberclock, already assembled. It appears to have two SMC diodes already on it. I am using an external 5V power supply rated for 3.5 amps connected to the 5V terminal block. The contrast on the screen is so light it can’t be read. Are there any jumpers I need to set to use external 5V instead of USB?

On my unit above there is a “Adjust pot” just below the lower left side of the screen see if yours has that?
No pot adjust on mine, but powering with just USB worked, and it\s also working with the 5v psu now. Maybe it has an auto adjust. It came from reprapdiscount
@DarrenAnton You just saved me those same hours online. Thank you!
