Has anyone tried this:  https://www.hotends.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=88 Should I buy this ??

I’ve had good luck with the jhead, my only issues coming from failure of the heater (resistor). I’m currently running. Jhead with the heating element from a QU-BD and while it took awhile to get it dialed-in, the results are pretty sweet.

What I’d like to do next is get a “native” 1.75 jhead and a heater that is a better fit (the one I’m using now sticks out on the ends a lot

@Dag_Elias_Sordal go for the E3D. No meltable parts and ceramic heater. Original J-Heads are supposed to be great, but it is now an old design. All metal hot ends are the current top of the line.

I’ve only used J-Heads from http://hotends.com and I don’t have much reason to try anything else.

okay! lot of views on this  I hope nobody gets mad at me but I went for the E3D…

I’m only using j-heads right now - I just ordered a dozen for an upcoming workshop.

All metal hot ends are nice and all that but, how much more an hour do they cost to run than the J-Head.

I use my printer a lot and think keeping energy use to a minimum is important to keep cost down, and its why I’ve been hesitant at getting the all metal hot end.

If you are worried about the environment, then metal is probably much nicer than PEEK. Production of PEEK probably takes more energy than aluminum too

LOL - interesting thread. Just dumped the stats from one of the Ordbots, 7.6km of filament though the j-head that’s on it. At the end of the day, it’s what you can make produce satisfactory results.

@John_Ridley There might be a mistake in your calculations, I get 24 watts with formula VxI. Plus there will be some power lost to heat dissipation.
Ceramic Cartridge heaters are typically used in all metal hot ends and they are rated at 40w. On UK fuel prices avg 0.16 GBP.

Not to repeat everyone else, but I have both a J-head clone and a real J-head from http://hotends.com and the real one can’t be beat. I just recommend swapping out the power resistor for a heater cartridge.

Nice
