Yeah, I just registered on that website. Browsing though as we speak.
@Max_Kalin Do some searching on youtube.
@Mat_Helm Definitively will do that. I’m finishing up a new office for myself and will be working on this CNC project.
Actually, I just looked. Not a lot on youtube…lol
Came across this website while looking… http://www.cncrouterparts.com

You have to think early on what kind of rapid traverse you want, and what kind of precision you’re after. Then once you have those numbers in hand calculate what kind of a drive system will get all of that for you. Once you do a bit of figuring you might have to adjust some of your figures to align better with reality too. With a larger machine you’re likely going to want to sacrifice some precision you’ll never see at the tool tip for speed that you will use.
Then timing belts start making the most sense.
Yes, you are correct, no one will go and look for 0.5mm on the panel that is 1000x2000.
@Max_Kalin Quarter stepping a 1.8 degree motor with a 16 tooth pulley using XL belt is 101.6 um a step. Of course if you want finer resolution you can always run a smaller pulley too.
