Help! My Prusa i3 MK2S after hundreds (thousands,

Issue an M502 followed by M500.

This will reload the settings from the Configuration.h file in Marlin into the EEPROM, resetting any changes you may have made via the LCD menu.

Reloading the firmware will not bring you any joy because the EEPROM will still contain overridden values. You need to reset with
M502
M500

Thank you for all your help. I’ve found and fixed the problem!

I will say what it is, but first see if you can figure it out if I say that:

  • it is simple
  • it is physical
  • it is because of the spaghetti monster’s visit
  • Y was moving more than it should, by 2 or 3cm

Run an M119 and ensure the endstops are actually working properly. I would then reflash the firmware on the board from Prusa’s website.

What was the issue. With all due respect, people have been trying to figure out the issue all along, no need to play games once you figure it out.

Sorry – didn’t mean to come across like that.

It was extruded filament wrapped around the Y axis toothed pulley. It was very neat and so didn’t show up, I just noticed that the belt wasn’t running over the pulley very neatly. The filament changed the effective radius of the pulley – something that given the Prusa i3’s layout, must have happened to others before me I’m sure.

Never seen that before, but as you say it must happen. Glad to know it was very confusing.

That’s a new one for me… Granted I’ve only been doing this for like 5 months but I’ve seen a lot in those 5 months.

I thought I had seen it all. This is so weird, I’m even a bit amused by it.

It made me smile. The Y axis was moving too fast because the pulley was too large. Simple :joy:

I don’t get it… How can a filament get in there in the first place??

@Step_Cia When the bed’s full forward the pulley and belt is fully exposed so the spaghetti monster can deposit extruded filament on it easily, and presumably the toothed belt delivered it neatly to the pulley, rather like a conveyer belt. (Suppresses mental image of a spaghetti factory :flushed:)
