@Jeremiah_Coley do you have a link to that?
@Luke_Sewing https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MKWACVI/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1493404154&sr=8-14&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=12v+relay+module
@Jeremiah_Coley Thanks!
@Jeremiah_Coley so how would you wire that up?
@Luke_Sewing the wires that come from it go the the bed out put on the ramps. The screw connectors are labeled, imput from your power supply and out put to the heated bed.
@Jeremiah_Coley ok I think I understand. Thanks!
Oh and put a fuse in there on the imput from the power supply, this way nothing catches fire. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B013JG8GIY/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1493404555&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=inline+fuse&dpPl=1&dpID=41fGUJlSOrL&ref=plSrch
You can get the fuses and fuse holder at an automotive supply store locally, if you have one!
so I actually got the ramps to work. I replaced the fet but it is still getting really hot. the bed functions normally but when you turn the bed on the fet gets too hot to touch. I used a clamp meter and determined that the bed is pulling about 8.5 amps. This seems a bit high to me but I though I would ask and see if that is normal?
Should be normal, the fuse for that power rail is “11amps”, but the fet will still need cooling and probably a heat sink to keep from frying.
@David_Sherwood ok thanks for the info. I will probably order that ramps board as backup for when this one fails. Thanks so much everyone for the help!!
Here is a good looking Ramps upgrade that has better design features. https://www.tindie.com/products/mjrice/pica-reprap-arduino-mega-shield/
@Scott_Lewis I saw that. Looks pretty good!
