I quickly looked at your mods and do not see anything wrong. Can you be more specific about what is not working ?

Should be… FastLED.addLeds<NEOPIXEL, DATA_PIN, RGB>(leds, NUM_LEDS);

Promptly jumped on ebay - and found one built for $600… Yikes!!! hmm, my 8 year old knows how to solder…
@JP_Roy Adding the DATA_PIN gives me this error:
no matching function for call to ‘CFastLED::addLeds(CRGB [45], int)’
@Terkel_Sorensen Hard to say but just check your syntax carefully because that code works 100% !!
