I haven’t seen any hard numbers on build volume, but if the time estimate in the app is any indication, the expected print speed is probably in the 30 mm/s area.
I have a friend who has an m3d and another who bought a mod-t. Both are just so slow. I guess I’m spoiled by the flexibility of our printrbots. 60mm/s seems to be the current standard speed… Easily switching hotends and tips is also a big benefit.
That said, these machines racing to the bottom are still magical for the new user but I think you get what you pay for. I’ve been in that race and just decided… I don’t want to have the cheapest printer… I want to have the best. And i think the best isn’t the highest resolution or biggest or fastest… It is the best overall user experience.
We are excited about the Mattel printer at Printrbot. I think they will offer a good experience for that niche and price. I think it’s going to crush m3d and modT. It will be hard to compete with a company with those resources. I think all competition is good. It is really good for consumers and pushes us all to be at the top of our game.

@Brook_Drumm As I said in the header:
Hopefully this will be a gateway product to get kids interesting in a real rapid prototyping rig.
