@Ryan_Carlyle Yes i agree that it looks like air was sucked in. So maybe you need a g-code that is first taking out the stress (fast) and then slowly retracting while it is moving to prevent gravity ooze. I had the idea of an upside down printer (with a telflonshield around the noozle where extruded filament can solidifiy (and someone else turned a normal printer upside down at it still worked)) but wanted this for support free prints - but it is likely to minimize the oozing/stringing aswell. So if some cura developer is reading this - a two step retraction where the 2nd is part of the travelmove would be intresting - Ü on a second thought there is expansion due to humidity while plastic stay longer in the nozzle - so this could prevent oozing but when priming this is all coming out… not sure if that would be an advantage.
@Ulrich_Baer somebody (Makerbot?) tried that a long time ago (for the idle dualstrusion nozzle?) and it wasn’t very good. Once the solid filament pulls much above the melt pool, there’s no connection between the liquid filament and solid filament any more.
@shauki this is PLA or? … looks nice and lot of supports - I printed this with only support in the center. You are not using Cura as slicer or? (oh i just recognize i scaled this to 50mm or 75% - and i have 80° support angle … that explains it) hope you can remove the support as it seems that some struts will be enclosed in support later…
@shauki only very few strings, nice - i really have to renew my PTFE inliner - i remember when it was new and i changed filaments the transition zone was only 2mm - now it is about 20cm, probably that way retraction is also not really working.
@shauki yes but i scaled my print down to 75% … but that shouldn’t make a big difference. Are you using a 0.4 nozzle? I would assume that is the biggest factor as 0,125 compared to mine 0,28 is less than half the area (nozzle orifice).
yes what i said, you would get an even nicer result if using 0.1 layer as there are a lot of shallow structs. BTW you know that your cura version is very old (over 2yr latest was 15.04.6) and not developed further? https://ultimaker.com/en/products/ultimaker-cura-software/list
because of worse overhang behaviour of low layerheight?
also impressive prototyping farm!
