Is it time to replace your painter's tape and Kapton build surface with one

Well, I’ve been using PEI surfaces for nearly two years now. Heat passes through both the double sided adhesive and the PEI (plastic) sheet fine, and I put it on glass plate to boot. You need a good adhesive to hold it flat because the part will try to pull it up and I’ve had it pull it from under several clips too when I allowed the adhesive to weaken.

@Matthias_Lewen-Riege how is it holding up for you?

@Thomas_Sanladerer now that I learned my lesson with the buildtak, I know how to handle the coropad with a little bit more care, so it looks like on day one (which isn’t that long ago, though ;))

The sticker itself seems a bit thinner than the buildtak, but once it’s glued to the base, it behaves pretty much the same.

I use 3dlac on glass and only have to top up every 5 or 6 prints

First off, @Thomas_Sanladerer , I would like to thank you for your extensive help through your videos when I was putting my first printer kit together a few years ago. And now that I painstakingly made it through the “oneup” kit and actually got it to print okaayyyyish Lol I’m glad I started that way, because it taught me loads about how 3d printers actually work.
I just re-watched your firmware basics video and I was wondering if you could cover the firmware differences between simple Cartesian printers and CoreXY and Delta printers. I understand there physical principals of motors moving synchronously to move in a straight line what I don’t understand is the changes made in firmware to compensate for this.
I’m in the process of building a large CoreXY but I’m going to need to set up the firmware but that is the only hang up in having.

@Brandon_Scott the firmware has to have a mode for corexy. If you don’t see one offered in the configs, you might need to find a more recent copy of the firmware or look for a different firmware type.

@Jeff_DeMaagd after that configuration change in firmware is there any other settings like jerk or acceleration that will need to be adjusted differently than on a usual Cartesian I’m well acquainted with a Printrbot play type movement but I’m wanting build one with core xy

I use Glass Build Plate Wizard it works on alluminiun too. removing the prints are really easy.
