@Mike_Miller the glass is worth it. I have two sheets I rotate. But I print large objects often. Plus if I pull the glass off I am less likely to throw z out of calibration removing a sticky print. And it doesn’t take that long to calibrate z.
True. The glass I purchased for the original build plate is a little more than 2 lbs. (12"x12"x1/4" to handle the thermal loads), I have smaller pieces of thinner glass I can use when the heated build plate is turned off. I really want my GeckoTech kickstarter to ship, although I don’t know what the bottom layer finish will look like.
I have standard 3/32" window glass on my 17x17" build plate. Trick in not to use those clips. They put point loads on the glass.
How do you retain them, then?
Right now I am using tape. But I am modeling corner clips this weekend. With a vertical moving bed glass only needs to be held in x/y.
