I have a correct ip from my routers dhcp that is on the same subnet. I can use octopi fine, I just can’t log into octopi.local. According to the link I posted earlier, windows firewall blocks the multicast from bonjour requesting the hostnames. I don’t think it’s a firewall issue because I shut off the firewall and got the same behavior. The weird IP I was getting when trying to ping is the default IP that windows throws when it gives up on trying to get a dhcp. I have no clue why it assigned it this when pinging, instead of just saying not found. At this point I’m just using the IP address and it’s working fine. Bit since I have a VPN, I wanted to use the octopi.local address to make it easier to login to from outside
