Hi All! Nope, full open system, so you can feed every material you want. As long as it is within the 3mm range. It goes without saying it requires quality input to get quality output. I might recommend the bukito printer. It is my favorite at the moment and comes as a kit where most people have it assembled within 2 hours. 1.75 filament and can print even when being flipped upside down. It uses synchromesh instead of belts so this eliminates backlash from quick movements and is quiet. So all in all a good classroom printer. Also it’s only 899 for a kit. So for that budget they could get 2 and all the addons and filament they could need.
Our Printrbot Simple metal ($599) 6x6x6" or metal Plus ($999) 10x10x10 are solid choices. Open filament (1.75mm). Ultimaker is great too! Looking forward to seeing what’s up with their announcement at CES
