ok
This same thing has happened to me too.
GRBL 1.1
In the /jpadie environment the machine reads offline.
But can still move te machine useing the machine controller.
In the /grbl environment the machine connects correctly
Looking forward to a fix
Having the same issue, it didn’t work Saturday, worked Sunday, now doesn’t connect. just says offline. I have an Xcarve, json 1.88, and GRBL 1.1f I think.
I appreciate that you’re all having the same issue but I am not able to reproduce it here. So it is very difficult to fix. I’ve also not changed anything that relates to SJPS.
Before you file bug reports here, please ensure that you’ve captured a trace from SJPS in verbose mode and from the js console. that then may provide enough information to help.
Hey @Justin_Adie Thank you for the work you’ve put into the jpadie workspace. If you;d like to help me ‘capture a trace from SJPS in verbose mode and from the js console’ i cant do that for you. Sorry, but I’m just not sure what you mean by that.
All you do is to start sjps with the verbose flag. ie sjps -v
Sorry, I’m a newb if it wasn’t obvious. Where do i add the verbose flag? Do i add it as a start up script?
Instead of starting the server by typing serial-port-json-server and hitting enter you add a space and -v before the enter button.
Okay I usually start it by just running it as administrator from a folder. I’m on windows 10. When I type ‘serial-port-json-server -v’ into the Serial Port JSON Server widget console and push ‘GO’ or hit enter, it does nothing.
You would have to start sjps from the command line.
@Justin_Adie Seems to be working now. FYI
about 4 minutes ago i rolled back the widget by about 14 days. that may be what you are seeing.
@Justin_Adie Okay that’s probably whats going on. That’s also probably why auto level is not working correctly I would guess?
Auto level is a completely separate widget that hasn’t been touched for quite a long time. What behaviour are you seeing with the autolevelling widget?
It was stopping after the second probe and no longer showing any data. It would discover a new z value but said it was undefined. Just now when I turned my machine back on again and open json 1.88 the machine says its offline but i can still move it yet the coordinates don’t change… What ever version you had on Sunday seemed to be working for me.
That is a known bug with the grbl workspace. Not with the jpadie workspace (it was fixed in that workspace).
Please make sure you check the js console. If there are bugs then they will show up there. And of course make sure that you are forcerefreshing the workspace.
Nb forcerefresh is not the same as flushing the local cache. You also need to flush the CP cache. The forcerefresh option is in the drop down at the top right.
Mine is the same no change. I can manual move but cp says it is still offline and no info in the serial port console in verbose mode.
Ensure you flush the cache and forcerefresh.
I deleted sjps and down loaded it again and it seems to be working now.
