@Kyle1 My experience is similar to Kyle’s. My parts are a bit different, 300 x 300 x .250 Mic6 and 700 watt/24 volt heater. I’ve printed direct on the plate, glass and now PEI.

I don’t see the difference being worth the cost for most low end 200 x 200 printers but for a larger machine it’s a great implementation as long as the rest of the machine is of the same quality. The difference is particularly noticeable on the outer regions of the plate with full plates of parts or larger objects. I’d recommend this as the preferred method for anyone building a top quality machine, particularly one with a larger print envelope.

Nice big plates you got there. Next diy printer gets bigger too but for this one ill stick with the 200mm plate.
