Recycled material and plastic inconsistencies may be less problematic if the extruder actually used a depth sensor and scanned the image to see if it needs to put down more filament, but no 3d printer is designed for such a concept. It would be great because you would not need to adjust settings for different filament/materials, but it may not happen for a while.
