So, i have moved to bowden on one of my i3 and im having

Ha ha… That old routine… “Get everyone else ready for bed > coffee > reprap”

Good luck!

Just curious, why did you change and what were you using before? Speed?
Are you running PLA or ABS?
Just a Socratic approach.

before: single gregs-wade
why: wanna go double (at least) and dont wanna spend money on new steppers.

pla and abs, mostly abs.

no luck. The hotend lookd fine, hand extruding is smooth. Im using a hyena bar, i might try to change for and see what happens.

So, my top extrusion speed with bowden is 400mm/min. Now, with the same coldend (gregs-wades), same hotend (0.35 jhead) and same filament (abs @230c), if i use it as a non bowden setup, i can extrude at 800 mm/min.

Theres something really wrong on my bowden setup.

Fwiw I have used a RepRapPro hot end for over a year now, similar filament / same heat and in pronterface the default manual extrude is 500 - I’m confident I could go at least 100% higher cos its MUCH faster when printing…

Actually I just tested and at 230 deg with ABS (my normal extrusion temp) I can JUST extrude reliably at 500… This is constant extrusion though, it works fine for the first 25-50mm and then I start to hear the motor load up a bit - no lost steps or slipping filament though, this is from a nema 14 too, not sure if u are using a 17?
