Something really bothers me with my printer: I get really inconsistent "slips".

I had similar issues too. Turned out the filament was tangling on the spool, causing sudden jumps, binding the x axis. The motors also got too hot, and failing. My belts were too tight, binding the motor bearings. I was overextruding, which caused the nozzle to catch on the print, making the motor skip. Yes, all of this happened at the same time, all making the failures seem random when it was a combination of failure points.

Without reading anyone’s suggestions on what the problem seems to be, I had the same issue and think I know what it is.

You have a grub screw loose on the shaft of one of your servo motors. Tighten it up and add a little loctite on the threads and you should be all set.
