What method of lubrication do you use on your threaded rods?

Sewing machine or Gun oil work well

Sylglide from NAPA auto works as an alternative to white lithium grease in a pinch.
Otherwise if I need to clean dirty grease off, I use bicycle chain lube.

3in1 oil on 1204 ballscrew (metal on metal)

Thick lithium grease for (sliding) threaded rods / trapezoid spindles. Slightly less thick grease for (rolling) ballscrews and linear bearings.

Silicon spray on all moving parts when building the machine. Then periodically (once a quarter?) a couple drops of 3 in 1once assembled…if needed. The silicone spray is dust replant and allows the future oil applications to spread out nicely in a thin film.

Grease… Much better than oil for these kind of job
