10,000 1/8” 60 degree holes later…

bCNC with Autolevel probing was critical for this as I haven’t built a torsion box yet. The right side was down almost 0.8mm compared to the left, and bCNC corrects that on the fly.

Someone might notice the center hole in my dust shoe. I was trying to use a $20 endoscope camera with bCNC for video alignment, but I can’t get it working. The camera works fine on my octoprint Rpi.

It’s really nice! I have really wanted to do this. What software did you use to dither the photo?

Great pic work Jeb.

Software from here:

(Note, I couldn’t believe how small the download was… but it works great – awesome coder)

Painted mdf (will sand first next time), put down contact paper and tried to roll it on, then cut, then paint white, then remove contact paper. (you can see in the bottom left where my dust shoe flaps peeled the contact paper).

But I can’t stress enough how helpful the autolevel on bCNC was. It was a learning curve, and I should do a writeup on it while it’s fresh.

Hey bro, My crew at the Autogyro dealership in Utah that we talked about just ordered an R7. Could I talk you into printing me another dust shoe? They will be using thiers to cut custom dashboards for the Cavalons. We just put the first Garmin Autopilot in a customers Cavalon.

Doesn’t bCNC have this function built in?
Jeb Campbell

@Bob_Steege – It is built in to bCNC – I just had to learn to use it

TLO (tool length offset), etc

No, I mean the half tone function

@BuddahrobSidartha_Ro – I can print another. From your comments on the first one, I went with dual bands (so no more delamination on that nut).

My hose is smaller, but I can modify my current design for the larger size. Or you can see if my current design will work for them (it takes a shopvac hose…)

Let me know.

@Jeb_Campbell I would love to see a write up! I am still Chillipeppr but it’s good to learn.

@Jeb_Campbell I used the large rigid tm shopvac hose from home depot on mine. so whatever is good with me. Ill adapt either way but the large hose moves more air than the small one with less garbage settling in the low spots.

@Bob_Steege Ahh – yes, bCNC can do halftone (that’s where I got the idea from). It was just easier to do it from my desk and not using the mini keyboard, etc. Plus it seemed like it had a few more options and faster screen drawing.

Ok, just making sure you were aware of the option.

+Jeb Campbell do you have a link to that dust shoe design? Would like to redesign for 2.5" hose.

Thanks!

@Ben_Delarre – I thought I made a nice parametric dust shoe, but when I upped to that diameter, it messed up. Now that I’ve gotten better at F360, I’d like to fix it up.

I don’t mind posting if anyone else wants to work on it.

Been on my list for ever to use that half-tone function.
@Jeb_Campbell I am super happy you are reaching out into bCNCs amazing power. There are a ton of different features that one day I would love to sit down and play with.
