2 weeks ago I received my first 3D printer, the Printrbot Simple Metal. After some adjustments win Cura and leveling it seems to be working ok, but I downloaded an .STL file that has the item to the max size of the bed, Cura will not allow me to print it. My theory is that it recognizes that the outline is past the parameters, after much research I cannot find that I can turn that off. So i installed Repetier and ran a test print (the cube) and its not printing right because apparently I need to calibrate it (again) If I start messing with the settings will the be saved to my Printrbots control board or are the parameters saved to the software only?

Printrbot Simple Metal and Cura user here. Depends what you’re calibrating, I’m assuming the Z probe. When you calibrate the Z probe you physically move the probe then perfect it in the software with the M212 command which writes the firmware.

You’re contradicting yourself saying the stl is at max size then saying the outline is past the perimeter. Set your build volume in Cura to 152x152x152 mm. If the object in Cura is grey after manuevering the object then it’s too big and you shouldn’t try to print it.

Also, make sure you’re not asking for a skirt, which will be beyond the object size.

“No skirt” is not in the options, I can’t find it

It shouldnt print a skirt if theres no room for one. Just make sure you’re not using a brim.

Expert settings (ctrl-E), under “Skirt”, change “Line Count” to 0.

THERE IT IS !

Just want to say you people are so cool to help each other :> kudos to all …

@Carlton_Dodd Thank you s much, I’m writing my item now =)
