200k members. That’s even with me going through our member list and banning all of the names that start with “!!!” on a regular basis. It’s a good thing our community starts with a number. I got down to the 3’s and…so many of those are relevant that I didn’t really have to go any further.
There are about 20-30 posts/users banned/removed per day.
It’s sad to hear that so many posts/users need to be banned each day.
Sincerely - I thank you for your daily efforts in filtering out the garbage. I probably speak for every legitimate user in expressing my appreciation for your hard work doing this.
Honestly, I don’t even know if that’s just me. We’ve got way more mods than most communities have, across many multiple timezones. I know at least a few are in Germany, a couple in the UK, and a handful in multiple timezones across the USA, and I think New Zealand, as well as some other places. I’m sure the other mods are banning the same amount.
@ThantiK let me know if you need another one in the US. I look at the community quite a few times a day and figured I’d ask if you needed any help. Located on the east coast of the US if that helps at all. Love giving back to such great communities. This is the reason why my printer runs. Period.
I don’t post in this community nearly as much as I should, but I do fear of over-posting. I also hate the idea of copying my personal stream posts here for those who are following me and in this community would get double posts.
@Stephanie_A agreed - But I consider it more efficient to let my own followers forward my posts in the appropriate forums (as a result I have an uncommon ratio of 6M views for 500 followers - I dunno how they count “views”). Now, what annoys me is the increasing number of totally suspicious sexy-looking girls that started to follow me recently Google should help us sort fake accounts. I guess they are made to fish naive men (to follow them back, to give them a minimum reputation so they can then use the account for massive and one-shot spamming sessions later on?!)
Congratulations of 200000 members. On my forum had a similar problem with spam but was spambot registrations so I added a question any person should be able to answer. Simply added a field asking to type any colour starting with the letter g. Makes it quick to filter out the rubbish, which unfortunately is most of them. It’s a truly horrible task to have to do and I appreciate the effort daily.
