2014 New song added to our Christmas show, every pixel on the house, including the icicles, floods and arches are driven by FastLED! (Wireless even) Thanks again for making this possible!

Woot! Very cool and congratulations on yet another masterpiece!

How are you setting up triggers, is it millisecond based, meticulously programmed in? Sound reactive? Awesome work!

Thanks Mark! The whole thing is sequenced manually using Vixen (http://www.vixenlights.com/ about 8 hours for every one minute of music - ill never build a snowman again!). Once sequenced i export the songs to run on the raspberryPi via Falcon Pi Player (http://falconchristmas.com/wiki/index.php/Falcon_FPP ) connected to the Pi is a switch and 12 Arduino Uno’s with Ethernet Shields and nrf24L01 transceivers. Each Uno is handling 512 channels of data or 170 pixels(510 channels).

Yes, you read that right, the whole playback engine is on one raspberry pi.

I have a bunch of my Arduino compatible RF1 boards receiving data from the transmitters and turning the wireless into FastLED using (RFShowControl) https://github.com/komby/RFShowControl. The refresh rate is millisecond based, every 50ms a refresh of data is completed. Someday ill learn how to use a video camera and get proper video, cause this one is really poor quality :frowning:

Wow! Great work!

Komby FTW!
(I want some of those RF1 boards and keep forgetting to order!)

@Mark_Kriegsman you’ve earned a few, just send me a contact email from my site with your wish list and it will make its way to you. A early Christmas gift even!

Wow, you’ve set the bar quite high for anyone else decorating their house with FastLED. I am have been working with the NRF24L01’s recently, so thanks for the link to that library. I can’t wait to look it over, and hopefully ask you some questions since you are a power user! Great job!

I love it when people set the bar higher. Great show and choreography. Like!

Holy hell, that’s AMAZING!

Puts my trees to shame!

Last years was impressive, but you just keep pushing that boat out further. WOW! So now you just need another 100 spare hours

100? I think you mean days

OMFG. Speechless , if i was your neighbor, I would have a seat out front every night. -_-

Have you thought of incorporating an FM transmitter so people in their cars can tune in on the synchronized music?

Yes, I’m using a vast usb transmitter with RDS and a custom built dipole antenna on 96.7 FM ! The raspberry pi connects to it via USB as an audio device. Neighbor down the street has speakers in his front yard (one of the boxes u get from lowes that is pre synchronized) and there is no way I could overpower them so fm was my only option.

Hi @Greg_Scull , I love the setup and love the RF1 boards.
I was going to buy some of your RF1 PCBs (i’ve got RF modules and atmegas a plenty here) but at 7 bucks 55 for shipping for a $4 board, i’m afraid i’ll go without. The RFShowControl was new to me, but looking around your repo, that’s pretty awesome!
I’ve been toying with ESP8622s this holidays, and i have 100 WS2811s running via UDP, but integration with RFShowControl, would be much nicer. Thanks for sharing.
