3D Scanning.... I have a Kinect I tried scanning a year ago got it

3D Scanning…
I have a Kinect I tried scanning a year ago got it to work and then promptly decided it was too much work to get a useful scan. So 12 months later time to try again and software has gotten much easier to use. So far Faro Scenect seems to be just a hard to use but Occipital Skanect seems rater nice. the 129euro Price seems fair but I would like to know if there is any other feedback on software. I don’t mind spending about $150 but I really do want it to work then. I’ve looked at the 3d systems Sense and would consider that if it works out the box. It does however seem there are a few hidden costs like processing SW and if that’s the case I may as well get the kinect to work. My goal is this…
I want to end up with a model that has decent resolution and want to scan objects as large as a car or small as watch. processing the scan to an STL file shouldn’t require a degree from MIT or a list of instructions that would double instructables ad revenue if it was posted there.

I recently got in touch with Faro Scenect too, but I did not get familiar with it. So I tried Skanect and I’m happy with it.
By now I scanned just people and my Teddybear (also no tiny things like a watch or objects as big as a car).

@enhydra the Kinect cannot scan small objects. The issue is the depth of the camera vs the resolution. The camera required a depth of about 1 meter, and at that distance there isn’t enough points measured on something like a wrist watch.

@Camerin_hahn OK, that means @Michael_Scholtz should also buy a ciclop.

I have been looking for an ideal scanner for a while… no luck
