I think someone was working on an open source sugar printer. It was at Maker Faire SF 2013. I think it used ink jetted vodka to bind the granules. Evil Mad Scientist had a different project but ended it in 2009.

http://candyfab.org/ uses sintered sugar. I think The Sugar Lab uses a binder.
