3DFilaPrint spool brackets for the Mendel90
I recently purchased some spools from 3DFilaPrint and I noticed the standard spool holder brackets supplied by +nop head in his Mendel90 kit are for larger spools, so I modified his design to fit the ~200mm x ~69mm spools supplied by 3DFilaPrint.

The brackets are a direct swap-in replacement; the nuts, bolts and bearings can be reused from the original spool holders, no additional components are required and also the bolts go through the same holes so no additional drilling is required (the original spool holders can be swapped back at any time).

Each bracket is made up of a male and female half (similar to Nop Heads original design) and likewise you need two brackets in total, one for each side. There is also an extended dust trap which needs to be printed which is fitted to the left hand bracket (as per Nop Head’s original design).

As soon as I decide where to upload the STL’s I’ll make them available. Should I use Thingiverse or do people have other recommendations?

A couple of build notes…

If printing in PLA make sure you have a few loops so its strong, I used 3 loops personally on the standard 0.4mm head with circular 25% infill and 0.2mm layer height, and I sliced with KISSlicer (my full KISSlicer settings are in the comments here: https://plus.google.com/+DanielBull/posts/JTJ44tMxf9M ) .

I’ve not forced it but the result seems pretty strong so I think its good  One thing to note though is because I printed them using the 3DFilaPrint white PLA (shown in the photos) I needed to raise the extruder temperature slightly from the 185c (which Nop Head suggested and works great for the Faberdashery PLA) to 195c. This is because the FilaPrint PLA it has a slightly higher temperature requirement and although it worked on 185 it seemed a little brittle on the layer joins (I accidentally broke the posts on my first print).

The time breakdown was 1:40 per female bracket, 2:20 per male bracket and 1:20 for the dust filter.

Bed temperature was set at 70c (there is a 15 degree loss through the glass on a Nop Head Mendel90 so its actually 55c). I also used diluted kids PVA for adhesion which I allow to dry to a mist before printing and easily wipe off with a damp cloth afterwards.

Hope this helps some of you guys out
I can now print big jobs without supervision which is fantastic

Those are some beautiful prints!
For sharing the files, @Ultimaker 's Youmagine would be a proper alternative to Thingiverse.

Thanks, to be fair I think the flash and slightly fuzzy focus on my phone’s camera made them look better than they are  I really should get out a proper camera and take photos but I’m spending too much time on my printer LOL! Also if anyone deserves the credit its @nop_head for his great Mendel90 kit. I’ll check out Youmagine.

For those looking for the STL files FilaPrint have put them on their site here: http://3dfilaprint.com/customer-download-page/
If anyone builds them let me know how you get on

Also now on Thingiverse here http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:221304
