5XC und MKS TFT28 V1.2

Hello, I would like to connect the MKS TFT28 V1.2 to the 5XC. How do I do that? No comment in the wiki

Imported from wikidot

There will never be anything about MKS in the wiki as that company is considered toxic to the project.
I recommend for help with their products, you contact them directly.
Cheers.

Which is very unfortunate it would be a super project extension

If you look at some older post, you will find the new screen and firmware for this tft, is cool and is fully commented…
Anyway, as i can agree with arthur about the toxicity of the MKS board, i have to say that the lcd is much better than the reprap controller!!!
You can connect the lcd via serial TX/RX to Smoothieboard, and remember to connect the Tx pin on the Lcd with the RX pin on Smoothie,
Change the config file on the Lcd to smoothieware(otherwise it won’t work) and chose if is a delta or cartesian machine.
Set the bridge on the lcd board to 5volt, the 12 volt is for an external plug and you don’t need it, and connect the 5 volt with a pin on smoothieboard, so the lcd will power up at the same time.
Now you can control smoothieboard with the new lcd
All done

I agree that screen is nice, however, being anything but hostile towards MKS is essentially shooting ourselves in the foot.

Instead, there is a lot of work going on in the Smoothie project in becoming compatible with the “PanelDue” project, which is similar in functionality, but Open-Source

I am really looking forward to see how is going with the “PanelDue”, and i think is even better as is a much more complete screen and yes, it can be
even implemented in graphic, as you say is an Open Source.
The only think that stopped me to buy it is the compatibility with smoothie for now…

Thank you for your reply, I can understand it I find the Smootieprojekt extremely ingenious, only such a display has also something cool
