$6 Heated Chamber and my new work space for my Prusa v2. Moved everything into my dining room so that I don’t have to hide in the other room. Of course it also makes me keep it clean since it’s the second thing you see after walking into my house. And yes that is a Pixel Tree Topper Star made by Knape on Thingiverse http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:194864.
As far as the box goes, it’s made of 6 sheets of black foam core from the Dollar Tree. Cheap stuff (price and quality) but it does the job. A little bit of duct tape to seal it all in and it reaches 100 F in about 20 minutes.
A sheet of foam rubber underneath acts as a sound dampener and I can’t even hear it running from 3 feet away.
I’m a little worried about the electronics of course but I would have to completely rewire the entire setup in order to move them. I’ll be building an i3 starting next month so until that is complete this will have to do.
The computer is just an extra to connect to the printer when I need to control it and upload firmware updates.
Funny, I’m enclosing my printer I white foam Core as we speak!
@Mike_Miller That is what I had it under until today but I thought the black would blend in more with the rest of the furniture in the house.
Does the motion of your printer rock the wire shelving at all?
Can you tell me what’s the temperature inside chamber? I’m also thinking about this kind of simple solution but I’m afraid high temperature might affect motors & electronics.
I was going to surround mine in corrugated cardboard and duct tape. Like the idea about the foam may get a cheap yoga mat for that idea.
Wow! Doing this today! I have that same shelf. Will probably locate the electronics outside the enclosure though.
@Mark_Rehorst I want to do something a little nicer later but I needed something quick though cheap was a bonus.
@Matt_Harrington my shelf does not shake much at all in part because it’s a super sturdy one and also the .5inch rubber foam tge printer sits on absorbes a lot of it.
@DongWon_Han_DWONH I’m running at about 38c which should be plenty okay for the electronics. If I want to go hotter I’ll need better insulation and move the electronics.
@Ryan_Hescock_Stanos I believe your print will be much better than ever. When I had tested with wrapping printer around towel, the result was like that of professional printer.
@DongWon_Han_DWONH definitely a huge improvement. I make large name plaques for desks that I sell at work and for the longest time had problems with delamination on the larger parts. Now the entire print is super smooth and looks great. The heat keeps the plastic nice and relaxed so it doesnt cool uneavenly.
