A bit of help to a complete new beginner.

A bit of help to a complete new beginner.

Hello everybody, a friend of mine gave up on a project (reprap wilson TS, or something very similar) and instead of throwing all the components away he decided to give it to me.
Being a complete newbie i’ve started to read as much as possible online, but unfortunately i’ve found very little or nothing about this particular controller. I think the name is “MKS gen 1.2” or at least this is the closest thing that i’ve found googlin’ around.

I’ve managed to upload the newest “Marlin” on it, but for some reason whenever it boots up all i get in the monitor is those white squares.

Am I doing anything wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can’t help
With Marlin since I use repetier firmware but there is usually a configuration option you need to set that tells the firmware which type of LCD you have.

I did, i went on the wiki for that LCD and followed all the instructions.
Would repetier be compatible with that board? and if yes would it be possible to print from an sd instead of connecting with a computer?
Thanks

Make sure the correct plug is in the correct spot on the board for the lcd. Switch them and turn it back on. I don’t think that’ll break it, but not overly sure with that board.

have you checked the potentiometer to see if the contrast is too high?

It’s OK, I managed to figure it out. I was probably doing something wrong with the fw.

It looks like i have the bed and the extruder working now. I’m still struggling with the motors though, whenever i connect the printer to pronterface and i try the manual steps it only goes one ahead and then stops and nothing else happens.
Any help?
