A buddy and Simula contributor showed up at the lab on Saturday with a busted watch band. We designed a replacement band using black Ninjaflex, printed and installed it, all in less than an hour.

I was told this had something to do with the novel “Walk Away” by Cory Doctorow but I haven’t read it yet and don’t get the reference.

Either pics are missing or it just looks like a replacement excess band holder? Cool, but not nearly as cool as you led us to believe

Should have put his initials on it

I did the same thing for the keeper on a friend’s Fitbit, printed in TPU. It’s a pretty good solution, though it can be tricky to make it as comfy as the original.

@Tim_Visible I’ve printed a bit with TPU, but way more with Ninjaflex and I’m shocked how durable it is. Does TPU hold together over the long term?

I’ve been printing with it for a little less than a year, but any print more than 2 or 3 layers thick is too strong to tear apart by hand, so I expect it to wear well. The keeper has a couple of months on it so far.
