A question arose about a month ago about why the perimeters are not completely smooth on all prints.

I printed this part and it turned out to be a great example to explain the theory behind why you might be seeing those vertical bars evenly spaced out across the side.

This print has two main problems

  1. The perimeter shell is too thin as it is .6mm.

  2. The top is also too thin.

The way I fix this is:

Add more perimeter and layers to the top.

Play around with the infill overlap percent. If you have too much overlap this could be much worse.

Note: the print is a little translucent but as a whole you can also feel whe you run over where the infill connects to the shell when you run your hand over it.

Just a little tip that I hope helps someone out.

Thanks, it’s helpful.

@Griffin_Paquette Interesting that you mentioned the Infill/Perimeter Overlap. @David_Martin is experiencing a similar problem.

I am aware that Skeinforge has this setting but wasn’t sure if other slicers support it.

What value have you chosen? In Skeinforge I have this value set at 0.07 which would be 7%. Have you reduced yours below this value?

Great!!! Thanks a lot!!
