A question for all of you…
I am currently using tape to attach the glass or tufnol or whaterver material I want to print on to my printers build surface, and I am constantly in fear of it working loose and messing up my print.
I cant use the folding bulldog clips people use on the bigger printers as the frame of my little Huxley is too close to the bed.
What do you all use to fix the build platform?

I haven’t used them but i do see people using magnets.

Interesting idea, but I wonder how well that would hold…

Hmm, it might also mess up the hall sensor based z-probe I use.

I use two-sided tape mounting tabs to hold a custom cut glass plate to the wood platform of my Simple - works great. I can lift it off easily, but it’s never shifted during a print. (I was using binder clips with the arms removed, but with my new glass it was a little too thick for comfort.)

Flip your rods around, sacrifice a tiny bit of Z height, and use bulldog clips? The newer iterations of the “old” Prusa Mendel did it this way.

@ThantiK haha, if I sacrifice much more z-height I will have to rename it a 2d printer! This is the biggist problem with this little printer. The Z height is awful. Must get around to sorting out my next prnter.

@Patrick_Ryan Nice idea, but I have a heatedbed, so when I am using it I want to maintain as much contact as possible between the glass and the heat spreader. Might be an option for printing with nylon and stuff like that though.

You can remove the folding arms of bulldog clips after clipping them on. Then they take up very little space.
Just don’t loose them

Just a thought but Gorilla Tape might work well. Not sure how well it would come off though.

I used bulldog clips at first on my PrintrBot Simple, but it was tight. First thing I printed with the glass was hold-downs that I screwed into the wood bed.

@scott_maher , interesting idea. but I suspect the clip will still hit the frame. I will give it a go.

@Rojer_Wisner , I do change the surface quite often so something that is going to damage the build platform wit me constantly ripping the tape off might be a problem.
I think what I am looking for is some sort of clip rather than tape.

@Carlton_Dodd I think I am going to have to make my own fixing as well. I don’t have anything to drill into as the bed is a pcb.
