I’m pretty sure the O-ring gets removed for this use (it’s there for its intended use).

The o-ring is absent on the assembled nozzle.
I wonder if an all-custom brass nozzle is really needed. Drilling out a 1.2mm Volcano nozzle and parting off the excess thread on the back probably would have done the job.
