A working Printrbelt. There are a couple of videos on Polar3D Twitter account but I could not get them to post here.
that looks great
I so want one of these.
Super intriguing. I get that it’s printing while the surface is moving, and it’s an auto ejecting print surface. How do you determine the ideal angle?
Also the grain direction is interesting! I do a lot of solvent welded assemblies to mix grain directions. This is an interesting compromise.
@Robert_Swarner the angle shouldn’t matter much, but belt speed does.
How is this sliced. The geometry makes sense but the y is treated like the Z and moves in a single direction. But is it a simply as placing an object at an angle upright on the buildplate ?
The Printrbelt was my first try at this so I just copied Bills 35 degree angle he used. At first I drew 45 degrees, but the tip had to be turned down and I just couldn’t imagine it working from the drawing. So 35. I haven’t tested other angles. Thinking about building a version to test other angles.
You just rotate the model 35 degrees and the post processor shifts each layer a bit. The layer shift and the z belt move ads up to the appropriate layer height down from the last position.
We hope to have our second, improved one done and printing tomorrow. I’ll post pics and video.
I’ll be selling off a limited beta run at a reduced price this weekend during a sale.
you heard it here first. Only for the brave!!
Brook
Keep me in mind for one Brook.
This weekend? Sucks I don’t get paid til after…
@Brook_Drumm Mel Gibson Braveheart Type of brave?
@Brook_Drumm like a sale online? Or at the show?
Online. Tonight at 11:59
Printrbot does not guarantee compatibility with any third party software or operating system (Repetier, Pronterface, Windows, Mac, Linux, etc). This requires the Polar3D cloud to operate.
Hope only for first period for debugging bugs.
Buy it and no have possibility to have full control on that no make me happy.
I amusing it now w repetier. Any host can run it, it’s the slicing that is tricky. Bill provided a post processor that plugs into repetier. I just didn’t want to say “it’s confusing”… the cloud makes it easy. And I didn’t want to say it works out of the box w any host software… it requires special slicing.
That disclaimer is a standard thing we use to set expectations. We don’t make the host software, so we can’t guarantee it will always work. But all Printrboards work w all your standard hosts to date
Don’t read too much into it.
Brook
Thx @Brook_Drumm for clarification good job
