A4988 stepper driver

would like anyone to help me!!!

I bought a Smoothieboard 5XC, because I need 6 motors for my 3D printer I designed.
I made the gamma driver be the master and the epsilon driver be the slave by connecting
EN3 to EN5
ST3 to ST5
DIR3 to DIR5
Both motors rotated well.

Then I connected ST4 and DIR4 of Smoothieboard to STEP pin and DIR pin of an external stepper driver(A4988). I didn’t connect EN4 to EN pin of the external driver, because I connected RESET pin of the external stepper driver to SLEEP pin of it.
The motor on the external stepper driver(A4988) didn’t rotate , and also the motor on the delta driver didn’t rotate.

To try, I connected EN4 to EN5, ST4 to ST5, DIR4 to DIR5 for making the epsilon driver be the slave to the delta driver.
Both motors rotated well.

I can’t understand why the motor on the external stepper driver(A4988) and the motor on the delta driver didn’t rotate by doubling .

So does the external driver -ever- work ? I’m not clear exactly on everything.

Both of The external driver(slave) and the delta driver(master) didn’t work once.

This is probably a problem with the wiring of the external driver then.

Finally, I could understand what caused this problem with your help, however it was not caused by miswiring. The external stepper driver caused this problem.
This is not the first time to enslave external stepper drivers to on-board stepper drivers. Before this Smoothieboard 5X, I enslaved two external stepper drivers to two stepper drivers on a Smoothieboard 4X for my 3D printer. Four stepper drivers were working well, but finally the Smoothieboard 4X was broken,. So I bought the Smoothieboard 5X and enslaved one external stepper driver from the two external stepper drivers I used with the broken Smoothieboard 4X , to one on-board stepper driver. Both stepper drivers didn’t work.
Very surely I have been thinking only the Smoothieboard 4X was broken. I couldn’t imagine that two external stepper drivers and the Smoothieboard 4X were broken at the same time. These two external stepper drives are not only no working, but also affecting to the on-board stepper driver.

I’m sorry, I should have considered about this problem deeply.
