About 2.5 years ago now, I embarked upon the ultimate Christmas Tree lights quest! In 2012 I used the brilliant (then) GE-35 hacked lights with an Arduino Mega. Last year I had it upgraded to WS2801 with an Arduino Due and SPI. All the while I had an android app on my phone to control it all…
I had the ambitious idea to simulate the bulbs on the phones’s screen for no other reason that I thought it would be a cool user interface. I then abandoned the control aspect (I’m resurrecting this idea, hopefully this year with the Spark Core) and just had the simulator.
After a few tweaks, and getting rid of all the controller code - I released it as a live wallpaper about a year ago.
I’ve updated it this year, and have just put it out on the Google Play store yesterday. (it’s free - but if you want any control over it, then there’s an in-app purchase option)
I think a lot of you may appreciate it, as it’s a way to play with “LEDs” when you are not at home!
It isn’t compatible with any of my devices, apparently - which means it isn’t compatible with Samsung or HTC phones, clone phones, or a couple of well-known brands of tablet.
Hi @Mike_Thornbury - that’s interesting. It works on Samsung S4/S3 and Google Nexus 10. What device to you have? I’d like to sort this out, as I didn’t realise I was having that kind of problem. I appreciate the help. Thanks. (Also - if you are able, can you try what this article says to let me know why? http://lifehacker.com/google-play-shows-you-why-an-app-is-incompatible-with-y-496328577) Only if not too much hassle for you. Thanks again
