Absolutely bludy fuming with Massdrop. Did they declare anyone else’s $40 steppers as $120 on the customs form?
Had to pay loads of VAT and a customs collection charge totalling £22.47 (over 35USD). Totally ruins the deal, I’ve sent them an email to see if they’ll reimburse me.
Declared at 40USD customs probably wouldn’t have bothered to collect anything, Had plenty of parcels from china at 40USD not incur a charge.
Wow, that is ridiculous. What is the point of even allowing international customers to order if they’re going to do stuff like that? Anyone that got their filament experience anything similar?
I’m hoping it was a mistake and they’ll put it right, but I am very interested to find out what they declared other’s parcels as!
I’m still waiting for my order to arrive. @Daniel_Filous or @Massdrop , can you clarify this? I’d hate having to deal with customs - especially since 19% VAT on a “$120” order would ruin the deal for me as well.
Mine arrived in Canada without any taxes, duties or extra tariffs. Hope you resolve it soon. The 6+ week wait only saved me $10 CDN.

Did you only pay $40 for them? (Just want to be sure). If you did, then you should be able to appeal to your customs service and get a refund. I had that happen once where I purchased a box of game controls (maybe 6?) on ebay for $20. The seller wrote a quantity of 10 (couldn’t count?!?) and then wrote a very sloppy double stroked $ 2 each, which ended up looking like a single stroked $ 1 2, which customs then did the math of 10 X $12 = $120. sigh. I paid the COD charges and then printed out the ebay order, emails, etc and filed an appeal and a few months later received a refund from the government.
@Daniel_Filous Cheers, it can wait until Monday, I’ve sent you guys an email too, if @Alex_Wiebe is right about being able to claim it back I’ll look into that too!
Massdrop have reimbursed me for the extra VAT I was charged, I guess it was a one off mistake?
Very quick response, pleased with how they resolved this and would use them again!

Poland here. Just received information that I have to pay $30 import tax. It seems that I’m another victim of this “$120 value” case

Massdrop declared a shipping value of 240USD on a 80USD order, had to pay the same for customs than for the original order… What a joke.@Mauro_Manco @Thomas_Sanladerer your in for an unpleasant surprise… Keep us posted.
