Adhesive release? I want to transfer the heating pad from one bed to another...anybody

Adhesive release? I want to transfer the heating pad from one bed to another…anybody ever successfully done that? I’d kinda like to avoid another 2-3 week delay and $40 expense for a new pad when the other works fine, it’s just in e wrong place.

Was it one of the AliRubber pads?

What kind of heating pad with what kind of adhesive? The doublesided-tapish-one? You probably can’t reuse this one, it’s being destroyed when removed.

I stick the silicon pads to my glass beds with double sided tape. And sometimes go round the edges with apron tape. Also on mine the leveling pads are under the mat so it being held in place by the glass. I tried with pcb heater to use cpu heat transfer grease and glueing the corners with cyanoacrylate. That was a literal mess.

Might not work for you, but I have heard that freezing the glue by holding a compressed air can upside down can affect the adhesion of some glues allowing for them to be cleanly removed and occasionally even reused without adding new adhesive.

Yeah, it’s an Ali rubber heater with the 3m tape, currently stuck to a flexible bakelite build plate…clipping it to the glass makes everything level, but sandwiching it between the plate and the new cast build plate would introduce more error than I’d like.

I’ve removed them but it destroyed the coils when I did it. You could try and see how it goes but I would keep an eye on it when you reheat.

I just clip my glass plate to the PCB heater. Works great.

With silicone you need the adhesive to a heat spreader

I haven’t yet tried on a silicone mat but soaking a glass-468mp-PEI sandwich in HOT soapy water for a couple of hours made it easy to peel off with a little help from a putty knife or razor scraper. The PEI (0.040" thick) and glass survived but I needed a new sheet of 468.

I’m not sure if the mat is sealed against immersion.
