After all my research and reading and investigating it is still not really clear what is the advantage of a CoreXY over a H-Bot or visa versa. Would anybody have a layman’s definition for this?

Based on my personal experience it is much better at balancing the loads. I originally designed mine as an hbot. But converted to coreXY after a lot of issues.

The belt crossing seems to be a main issue that always comes up with CORYXY. did you find that an issue also or just raise the belt up to pass by the lower one. and that’s all it took .

Yup. Some simple standoffs did the trick. Only minor issue is how far the gt2 pulley rides out on one of the stepper shafts. I sometimes worry about the extra load with the added leverage.

This is the best explanation… http://joshuavasquez.com/docs/jVasquez/Projects/coreXY.html Basically HBot will rack the X gantry corexy will not.
I run the gt2 belts one on top of the other avoiding having to cross over. http://www.flickr.com/photos/wolfmanjm/11736526394/

Thanks for the comments. That link is excellent. Exactly what i was looking for and for the most part has made up my mind. I have bought 20x20 aluminum already, so i am ready to get started.
