After I ordered the metal HSP parts,

After I ordered the metal HSP parts, which are meant to be used with dogbone CVD’s, I had an epiphany… Since I like the Traxxas U-joints, I should look into using components from one of the Traxxas 4x4’s. So I also ordered the front and rear diffs, center diff, half shafts, and pinions from a Slash. It’s all pretty similar to the current setup but the sealed Traxxas diffs offer some limited slip behavior which will be nice since my truck has a tendency to lift the front left wheel on pavement.

Normally the Traxxas driveline from front diff to center diff to rear diff is straight and does not require any U joints. I think I will adapt some of the Rustler or Slash half shafts to serve as the front and rear driveshafts though. Otherwise I may reconfigure the component layout to achieve a straight drivetrain. Overall I think this is going to be a very dependable and high quality drivetrain!

It will probably be a couple-few weeks before I get it done or near done but stay tuned for STL’s and a BOM. I’ll post here and the wiki.

I plan to eventually (next spring) buy a Slash as a back up to take with to tracks too. So it will be nice to have common drivetrain components between the two.
