After looking at some all metal hot ends and a number of email helpful

After looking at some all metal hot ends and a number of email helpful exchanges with Sanjay at E3-online I decided on the E3D hot end.

I ordered two 1.75mm hot ends with Bowden kits and a few spare nozzles. This will let me experiment with options for my RepStrap.

I’m not planning to use the Bowden tubes at this time but I’m curious to see if the threaded end might be useful for mounting.

My current thinking is to make an extruder based on the QU-BD layout but with the minimalist MK7 design.

E3D-Online is quoting a 3 week build time plus shipping. Hoping to get lucky to receive it sooner so I can bring it to the next open house at Deezmaker.

Hi Eric,

I have just received your order. We are looking to ship all our orders very soon, and yes, you will be receiving your parts well within the 3 week time period.

We have put this time frame on the site to avoid disappointment, but will soon be changing it to reflect a 72 hour dispatch period.

Keep in touch with Sanjay if you have any questions. I really look forward to seeing what you do with your RepStrap!

Regards
Dave

Is the e3d a standard groovemount? Somewhere I have files for a printable adapter to use that with my minimalistic drive mechanism (test-fitted with a J-head, but never actually used)…

Yes, its a standard groovemount fitting. Very similar to the J-head. The drawings found: http://e3d-online.com/downloads.html

We have made a couple of tweeks recently, and will be uploading the drawings in the next week or so. Nothing major though.

@Whosa_whatsis
If you can find the adapter plans, I would be happy to take a look. Right now, I am exploring ideas for how I will mount this. Presently, I’m thinking I will print a mock-up J-head (as I have never seen or used one) and then play with mounting options. Sanjay and I discussed using a flat plate like Makerbot. If you have plans, I would like to see them.
