Alex’s FoldaRap-Mendel build log, he’s the first to build one (and self-sourcing)

Is there a tutorial for foldarap mendel?
hmm not really, not yet, it’s similar to the foldarap but the printed parts differs,
you can use the sketchup source file to see and play with the assembly
I’m very noob to 3dprinting but really want to build one. I choose foldarap for my first. Wish me luck. I’m started to sourcing parts now. It’s little bit difficult to find few of those parts here in Indonesia. I found few parts at http://robori.com especially the hotend, but they don’t have the minitronics they just have the ramps. And they are willing to help me print the parts. Now I’ll start with the frame first.
no problem with minitronics or ramps, you can use any electronic board you want thanks to the modularity of the reprap project
and good luck !
Do I need to change something in the firmware to adapt from minitronics to ramps?
start from a fresh copy of Marlin (taken from the github repository (https://github.com/ErikZalm/Marlin) and the Arduino IDE
you will have to adapt some values in the firmware for your printer but it’s not very difficult once you managed to upload the firmware in the board
If I use misumi extrusion do I need to print the stl on foldarap github at 101%-102% from the stl or can I go straight print the stl as is?
depending of the printer you may need to add 1%, otherwise the parts are compatible with misumi extrusions
Ok thx. I have 2 suppliers for extrusion one are dbasix product and one are misumi. I’ll order from both and check the compatibility with the printed stl. The dbasix was confirmed has 1.75mm extrusion. If misumi are 2mm then it’ll fix then with the printed parts
Just information that I found when looking for the extrusion & t-nut. Here are the link in misumi catalogue that I use to order my extrusion to misumi agent in Indonesia.
