To build on my question last from week. Are 12v WS2812B Led strip brighter than 5v?
They seem to come in two types Christmas type and strip…
The strips seem to have a 5v step down on the back of them
and input would be great
Greg
The ws2812b chips are still just 5v - the 12v strips just have step downs on them.
No, they aren’t brighter. 12v are better for longer runs, imo. The main difference is that the LEDs are only addressable every three ledsz
@Mr_Happy if they are ws2812b’s, the logic is all enclosed in the strip, in which case each led is individually addressable. You are thinking ws2801 or maybe ws2811 (where the controller chip is outside of the rgb led).
Are these brighter being they are bigger?
Than these?
@Greg_Heinz I have looked at these, I use the 144 tape quite a bit, I have not used the xmas lights yet, but they may be inbound I the next months.
That said, the xmas lights lists as .3w consumption, that’s the same as 144s…
I’ll also say that if you’re using these in darkness, they are plenty bright. I run most at 75% power.
