Almost 13 hours in and at 60 percent. totally Need to change some settings before running another. How fast can a mendelmax 1.5 run effectively? How many layers between solid infill? I need help
What are the problems? (The angle of the photo, lack of scale, and lack of context make it hard to determine the issue)
@Mike_Miller the prints are great but I just didn’t expect it to run for like 16 hours for one print. I am currently printing at 50 percent infill and solid filling every 3 layers. I am wonderingly I should increase the number of layers between solid infill and speed up the travel speed. I just don’t know what to do yet.
I run at 150 travel speed, 40 small perimeter, 80 infill, 20-25% first layer speed without issues on a MMax1.5. I know this isn’t much but for your reference.
I don’t use solid layers anywhere except top and bottom. Haven’t seen the need for it. Almost everything gets printed at 20% infill.
You DO have a lot of stuff on the build platform… There should be an asterisk when the call it rapid prototyping*. (*=for varying opinions of rapid)
I am printing parts for a prusa i3. Is it better for my printer to print many prints with a short timespan or fewer long lasting prints like this one?
If everything’s tuned, I’m not sure there’s a difference. Long lasting prints don’t have you jumping so much, but then again, they might go a long time, failing all the way, because you’re not babysitting it.
Once the printer reaches steady state (temp, movement, extrusion, layer adhesion), it should just go and go and go.
Sorry for all of the questions. I just got my MM 1.5 and I am coming from a printrbot simple. So it is very different. I normally start my pla print with my heatbed at 65-70 degrees should i leave it at the temp for an entire print or should i turn it down/off??
On PLA I set to 70 and leave it.
Printing more than one object simultaneously takes longer than printing them separately due to the travel times. Then again, for small parts, this travel might be less than the removal and setup time. Also it depends on your willingness to hang around and remove completed prints. Some small prints benefit from being done as a member of a set thanks to the extra chance to cool between layers.
I set it at 70 and drop to 65 for the remaining but steady 70 would work.
16 hours not unheard of for a full plate like that, but I have never needed solid infill layers. Only the top and bottom 3-4 are solid on my prints.
I am about to go home for lunch. This print has been running since 6 pm yesterday. I get an email when it is finished. I have been waiting for it all day. I will update once I get home.
