Almost there! The glass build plate is doing wonders.

Almost there! The glass build plate is doing wonders.

Did you use a raft? and how did the part “Pull” off the build plate?

Yes, I did use a raft. I haven’t pulled it off yet because this is the first build with a glass build plate. It’ll be done in about 9 hours.

print time so far 21 hours??

Yes, longest and largest print I’ve been able to do so far. It’ll be 29.5 hours total

Geeze, what is it, a solid brick of PLA?

Did you let it run the entire time, or stop to let the machine rest, then restart the print?

No brother, it’s this

@Casual_Concepts_LLC , it’s been chugging right along. No rest for the weary.

I use glass with aquanet sprayed on it. Makes it stick and release easily. Where did you get your glass from?

Do you let the aquanet dry?

@Jerry_LePore I do I also lay it on quite thick. Works great! make sure it’s the strongest hold. I think it’s max or something line that.

It stuck waaay too well. I had to take the build plate off in order to get the print off. I’m going to go back to tape…
I got the glass from a local glass shop. It’s 3/8 inch, 9.5-ish millimeters, thick so I don’t have to do any stabilizing for large prints.

Is your glass cut with the tabs? I usually take mine out to remove prints. In my experience it sticks somewhere between tape and acrylic.

Nope no tabs, I was going to print some but then decided to print the candy machine instead. I don’t think I’m going to bother to print any because it fits nicely without shifting.

I’m moving back to the hair spray… the tape just pulls right up. I’m printing the back cover for the third time now.
I guess having to take the build plate out in order to get the print off is an acceptable trade off.

Yeah my plate is made of soda glass like in windows etc. tape has a really hard time sticking to it. A healthy dose of hairspray hasn’t let me down yet. To be honest I started doing the hairspray on the acrylic plate on my second bot and it does a great job on there too.

Looks dope

I know on large prints with the entire base on the platform … the blue tape will lift and this causes warping… I may try the glass build plate with aquanet…

Blue tape works for me most of the time but the larger prints that have a large flat surface area that is on the bed seems to need more than tape on a glass surface.
