Ancient Filament dehydration (drying) technique, in a ziploc bag, on a sunny day, with a cup of uncooked rice. Actually its how I used to dry out my kids electronics when they fell in the tub/pool.

Regular rice, doesn’t actually absorb that much moisture. Use instant-rice for a better result. Or actual desiccant.

Don’t have any dessicant here on a Sunday  and the wife pretty much thinks “instant rice” is the tool of the devil, so we make do. I have pretty much written off this spool, so I’m not too invested in recovering it, but figured it was worth a shot.

You can always put it on asphalt on a sunny day for an hour or so - (if it doesn’t melt) it will be dry enough  I dry my PLA in the oven

DampRid (calcium chloride) works better and is actually used for precisely this purpose. Plus, you can “reset” it in the oven when it becomes saturated, so it’s economical as well.

alternately it’s a really slow method for making rice
