I love those supports! Looks like supports I’d been pondering how to make. Cura, here I come!
The original model came with the supports. It was originally generated with http://www.flashforge.com/flashprint/ flashforge.com - FLASHPRINT
The new Cura also supports the tree like structures under the Experimental section
You can also add these supports in meshmixer, then export stl and slice in your favorite slicer.
In meshmixer it is in analyze - overhangs. Watch YouTube for a tutorial.

The supports are a nightmare to remove…
Is it printed with abs or pla? Abs you might be able to dissolve the contact point with acetone.
It’s PLA… A nightmare, but not impossible.
I have about half of it cleaned up, plus managed to cut my thumb on the very first support I tried breaking away with my thumb. Lesson learned…
Do have a dremel tool you might use a sanding disk or stone.
A dremel is next on my shipping list
