And it begins…my first calibration cube in a long time…
I should set my firmware to -0.5mm Z compared to where it is now. Else than that, I will have to wait until this thing is done.
hahaha…it looks like I set it for zero infill. Well, this hollow calibration cube should be interesting. Thing 5011, on thingiverse, I believe.
My 1.5mm thick walls seem to help compensate for my lousy bridging. The extrusion is a bit thin and takes a few layers to get a good solid surface.
I forgot how bad this stuff stinks…
@NathanielStenzel I actually developed a sensitivity to ABS
@ThantiK
Sorry to hear it. It is no surprise to me that such a thing could happen.
Well, I had 80 mm/s with 20 sec minimum layer height at 220C and it was okay and then I tried 100 mm/s with 0 sec minimum layer height at 220C and it was a bit sloppy. I think I will try 100 mm/s with 10 sec minimum layer height at 218C next. Hopefully, I can get stuff tuned in within the next few days.
After I get things tuned in better, I need a more proper mount for this style of hotend.
After that, I need to start designing and printing the centrifugal fan for the hotend that I am going to try to make. It uses a little motor (for toy cars?) that I got from Radio Shack.
@ThantiK what is your ABS alternative of choice?
@NathanielStenzel I don’t really print. I know this sounds stupid, but I love building, maintaining, engineering things. I don’t really print many things. I’ve spread out among many different manufacturing techniques now, so I’m out of the '3D printer for EVERYTHING!" phase.
@ThantiK okay. I was just curious what you would recommend else than ABS and PLA for an ABS capable printer.
Probably petg
